What is a worldview? Why is it important? Everyone has their view of the world although they may not realize it.
Below you will find out the basics about “worldview. I’ve included links to excellent articles and websites on this topic.
The inspiration for this post was a video by Chuck Colson– his ‘2 Minute Warning” from March 19th. You’ll find that video later in this post.
What is a Worldview?
According to American Heritage Dictionary –n
1. The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world.
2. A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group. In both senses also called Weltanschauung
A worldview is the lens through which you view the world. Its expression is shown by the way we choose to live.
Chuck Colson explains it this way on his website-
Q: Why is worldview important?
A: Our worldview is made up of our fundamental assumptions about reality, so it affects not only our thinking, but our behavior toward ourselves, others and God.
“Every person in history has asked themself basic questions:
‘Who am I?’
‘Why am I here?’
‘Is there a God?’
‘What is the purpose of life?’
and
‘Where did I Come From?’
‘Why is there Sin and Suffering?’
‘Is there a Solution- A Way Out?’
‘What is My Purpose in Life?‘
Your answers to these questions make up your worldview — your set of beliefs about the nature of reality.
But more importantly, because your worldview consists of
your answers to the big questions, it determines your behavior in all areas of life —
how you worship, how you relate to those around you, the way you study,
how you work, how you use your abilities, the way you view sex,
whether you get married, how you treat your spouse,
the way you train your children, how you vote, the way you treat human life and even the way you deal with death.
What’s the bottom line?
Your worldview is not only the most critical component of your thinking — it’s the most critical component of your behavior.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve
what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will Romans 12:2
