What is the difference between Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day?
Memorial Day we remember and celebrate those who died in active military service. Veteran’s Day we thank and celebrate those who previously served in the military. Armed Forces Day we thank and celebrate those who are currently serving in the military.
How Many American’s Have Died in Active Military Service?
To understand the magnitude of the casualties over time I conducted some research. I found an amazing report you may want to read. It contains the U.S. war casualty statistics among American military personnel who served in principle wars and combat operations from 1775 to the present. It is prepared by the Congressional research service. Here it is – The American War and Military Operations Casualties: Lists and Statistics
Another Kind of Freedom!
There is another kind of freedom that was also paid for with blood. Someone who died for a different kind of freedom. Read more about Jesus below.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and our American Armed Forces. One died for your soul and Both died for your Freedom.
JESUS
On this Memorial Day let us give thanks in remembrance of all the brave men and women who died while serving in our Armed Forces. And let us thank God for Jesus, who died for all mankind to give us freedom from sin, judgment and eternal separation from God, for those who believe in Him.
To learn more about Jesus read How to Receive Eternal Salvation. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, you will have Eternal Life!!
“For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:40
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
The good news is the God loves us and wants a relationship with us. God in his mercy sent Jesus to live a life free of sin and die on the cross for our sins, so YOU and I may freely approach the throne of our Holy God. Jesus is the way to God.
Read slowly and take time to really think about what God is saying in the Bible verses below.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“In him (Jesus) and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” –Ephesians 3:12
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin–” Romans 6:6
On this Memorial Day remember Christ and His love for you. And be thankful for the men and women currently serving in our armed forces to protect our country, our way of life and each one of us.
